Guar Gum Powder

Cyamopsis tetragonolobus and psoralioides are the botanical forms of Guar plant whose seeds are processed to separate the endosperm from which Guar gum is obtained. These are leguminous plants and suitable for growing in all seasons including rainy season or in hot summer so, it is called annual plant. Guar gum extracted from the endosperm of these seeds contains carbohydrate with high molecular weight. And this type of crop can be cultivated with good productivity in sandy soils.

Guar gum is applied for its thickening property and this remains the main application of this product. The presence of edible carbohydrate polymer makes it suitable for adding as a reagent in hydrogen and mineral bonding and even in cellulosic surfaces.

Guar gum powder is fine in texture and it stays white in color. Apart from that it is also coarse, ironic and free flowing in nature. This powder contains excellent thickening capacity and can show thickening property eight times higher than that of the thickening capacity of corn starch. It is for the same reason guar gum powder is extensively used in food processing applications. In addition, it is also used as an effective ingredient in milk products, baking mixes, dressings. Commercial and industrial usage of guar gum powder includes applications in textile, paper manufacturing, cosmetic, pharmaceutical and printing.

Guar Extracts

Guar extracts are the Guar Split/Gum 28% (+/- 1% variance) extracts from the guar seed. The guar extracts include Churi and Korma 67% whose ratio again is dependent upon the quality of the seed.

Guar Gum Split/Gum extracted from the processing is further refined to guar powder.

Churi and Korma are used for cattle feed

Guar Gum Powder Properties

          

The guar gum when dissolves in water gives galactose, hexose sugar and mannose. The hexose sugars are soluble both in cold as well as hot water but cannot dissolve in most of the organic solvents. It's viscosity increases in water. Therefore even smaller quantity of it when used with water can be effective in producing high viscosities. However this viscosity of this powder decreases with acids. The strong acids which can cause hydrolysis and alkalies in strong concentration tend to reduce the viscosity. Adding borax solution will form a gelatinous mass. It can be used with starch, agar and alginate. Agro Gums offers high viscosity guar gum powder in 3500 CPS to 8000 CPS range.

Guar Gum has excellent solubility with water. It can dissolve in both hot as well as cold water.

Guar Gum has film forming properties.

It shows stability in solutions across a wide range of pH values from 5-7

Can give higher viscosity even in small quantity.

Shows resistance to oils, solvents and various greases.

Packing is an important process and therefore given special attention at Agro Gums. Special attention is paid in packing the bulk guar gum products at Agro Gums. Packing is done by filling products in suitable bag-sizes with standard measures. Efficient packing to ensure product quality and safety during transit and storage is done at Agro's manufacturing facilities.
